Associate Scientist,
Ames Laboratory, Iowa State University, 3/5 time
(60%) appointment. This position is to perform
research for existing
and forthcoming multiple projects on thermoelectric,
nano-structured,
and other complex materials, including their synthesis
and studies of
structure, composition, nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR)
spectra, NMR
relaxation times, electric, thermal, magnetic, and other
relevant
properties. Required qualifications: Ph.D. in
solid state physics or
related field with 2 years research experience in various
aspects of
characterization and synthesis of complex
materials. Preferred
qualifications: Experience in one or more of the
following areas: 1)
materials characterization using spectroscopic, magnetic,
electronic,
and thermal methods; 2) experience which demonstrates the
ability to use
various technologies for materials synthesis; 3)
experience which
demonstrates the understanding of major physical
properties of solid
state and correlations between composition, structure,
technology,
microscopic and macroscopic parameters of complex
materials, in
particular thermoelectrics; 4) research in
multi-disciplinary projects
on various phenomena in thermoelectric and other complex
materials and
for understanding correlations between parameters of
materials obtained
by NMR spectroscopy and other methods. Publications in
reputable
journals related to thermoelectric and other physical
phenomena in
complex materials, and related to NMR of complex
materials. Experience
writing scientific papers/manuscripts, presentations, and
proposals.
